The ranking system of Heroes RP is not indicative of actual power, and is instead based off of immediate media relevance. What does this mean, you ask? Why, it's simply your character's popularity with the public! Create your own organizations, sign autographs, host talk shows! Will your Superstars be wildly famous, champions of the people? Will your rebels be remembered as powerful revolutionaries or as magnificent masterminds? These rankings are here to encourage cooperation between members and event participation. We hope that the addition of this system gives our members a better sense of immersion as well as a feeling of accomplishment when earning titles such as CHINA’S ACE HERO or PUBLIC ENEMY #1.
Superstar Ranking System
With such a high dependence on heroes, the industry has to be careful with who to shine the spotlight on. A Superstar’s deployment is heavily affected by their past achievements and popularity. Stopping notorious villains, rescuing those in need, preventing disasters - these are all ways to rank-up as a Superstar!
Rebel Ranking System
The goal of a Rebel is to pull attention away from the Superstar industry and towards their cause. Though a solo Rebel can meet with success and relevancy, they may also find strength in numbers, and as more members join a Rebel group, the more relevant said group becomes. The only way for them to rank up is to participate, and preferably succeed, in Rebel-hosted events, by either defeating any Superstars that respond or by forcing them to retreat.
Something to keep in mind when dealing with the top titles, China’s Ace Hero or Public Enemy #1, is that they are temporary. These monikers will be voted for every month, and at the end of each month a new top for both the Superstars and the rebels will be nominated. The process of being voted into this position is somewhat different. Superstars from the Pro Hero rank and Rebels from the Renegade rank will be selected and put in the running for a site-wide poll in which you, the audience, get to decide who the biggest names in China are!
- Avant Garde: Superstars in this rank must work in teams of three or more, or have the assistance of a higher rank hero to participate in an event thread. These stars are sometimes seen as fresh faces and usually pretty unpopular in the eyes of the public. The sponsoring company will usually keep a close eye on these Superstars, a proverbial set of “assurance.” (Note: Superstars of this rank must have at least two other members of the same rank or one member from a higher rank to participate in rebel events.)
- Hotshot: Superstars earning this rank now work in teams of two or, in emergencies, are allowed to take on situations solo should the need arise. Hotshot superstars will have had enough sway with the public to be seen as a rising star and can usually be recognized walking down the street. It is around this level of popularity where the true Superstars shine. How they handle a world full of crime can make or break their reputation - those rebels won’t always play to the same rules, but the Superstars must!
- Pro Hero: The most popular Superstars are given the most freedom, and are allowed to tackle rebel events on their own, with no repercussions. These Superstars, however, only retain such fame from their constant vigil and heroism. Superstars who sit out of the actions for too long will soon fall out of the public's eye. (Note: Pro Hero superstars must post at least once a week or be knocked back down to Hotshot.) Pro Hero superstars are the ones who have weathered the storm and come through flashy as ever. These superstars are almost instantly recognizable and will be mobbed in the streets by fans.
- China's Ace Hero: The Superstar in this rank is practically a household name. They are the symbol of peace in China, and rebels quake in fear at the very mention of their name! The public fauns over China's Ace Hero, the media can't get enough of them, and when in public, they need to hide their identities or risk drowning in fans! Only one Superstar can hold this rank at any given point, and they must fight to protect their title - both from the rebels, and from fellow aspiring Superstars...
- Incognito: These rebels are those that have eluded the press by joining a relevant group, or by keeping their heads low. They are no longer individual faces, but representatives of a single ideology or cause. Because of this, incognito rebels can blend in with the crowds and are almost indistinguishable from your average citizen. While capturing individual incognito rebels warrants the least media attention, bringing down a rebellion group will earn a Superstar more fame than a recognizable rebel. With their organized planning, incognito rebels can launch events in endless chains.
- Conspirator: Conspirators usually are found in groups of up to three rebels. Rebels of this tier are seen as radical thugs. While not something that would usually warrant a Superstar's deployment, these rebels will still seem very suspicious and, if they get a bit too lax, might give themselves away.
- Renegade: Rebels of this tier are seen as some of the most dangerous. These rebels are the most recognizable and will be seen as threats. These characters will need to stick to back alleys and dark places if they wish to avoid a confrontation with the law. Due to this, renegade rebels can't safely keep under the radar and pull off too many jobs in quick succession. Renegade rebels are the only characters eligible for the title of Public Enemy #1.
- Public Enemy #1: This is the rebel whose activities are seen as criminal and the most damaging to society. The person who is the most immediate threat to the people of China is Public Enemy #1. The Superstars, despite their best efforts, can't ever seem to stop them. The public speaks of them in only hushes whispers. Be advised: those in this rank are constantly under fire by both the media and the Superstars, but maybe this is exactly what Public Enemy #1 wants...
