Ina Tilo a.k.a Hina
Gender: Female
Age: 35
Affiliation: Superstar
Physical Appearance:
A 5'4" half-Tahitian woman, Ina closer resembles her father's islander origins than her mother's caucasian-asian ancestry. Ina has deep brown eyes, tan skin, and the curly black hair that she keeps pulled back in a ponytail or a messy bun. There's always one or two curls that always seem to be pulled out of place. Ina's years of working on a bike have given her a curvy athlete's build under the baby fat that she never seems to get rid of. Her chest, one leg and both arms are covered in traditional islander tattoos.Personality:
Ina is, in a word, driven. At the age of eight she had made her own lemonade stand. At age nine, when the bullies began to attack free-standing lemonade and cookie stands, she pulled together the kids of her neighborhood and created a small 'lemonade gang', that would spread out in the suburbs and then pool their profits, splitting them evenly. Bullies of the suburbs would find not only multiple kids at a booth, but a very angry Ina quickly arriving on scene if their business was mishandled. Personal, professional, and monetary gain is always on Ina's mind. This drive has earned her little friends, but what friends she has have been loyal to her since childhood, or gained during her stint in Valor City. Ina keeps to her own schedule, and heaven help the human, hero, or errant villain that gets in her way!
History:
Ina was born to a citizen of Valor City (A survivor of the 1988 Incident, now confined to a wheelchair) and a French-Polynesian immigrant in December of 1994. Little did her parents realize that the Metatanium research that her mother had been exposed to would bring a strangely floating creamy-coffee baby into their midst. 'Her first 'balloon string' was the umbilical cord', her dad liked to joke, often having to keep their rambunctious floating toddler on a leash. Not wanting their little girl to get caught up in the studies on meta-babies, they followed a job lead to Alaska, raising their daughter in a quiet Anchorage suburbs.Ina moved from Alaska, returning to Valor City, Maine. Almost immediately getting caught in a struggle between the local heroes and villains, Ina discovered she didn't want to use her powers to defend the weak or prey on the less fortunate. She just wanted to get by, and knew she had a distinct advantage in a certain field. HinaHina Courier Services became one of the dominant courier businesses within high-rise VC. After six years of hard work, she hired a fleet and business manager, expanding to Hawaii, living with family there. It didn't take long for a water-savvy courier business to expand within the island state. A family emergency brought her back to Tahiti, where she spent two years taking care of her ailing family and continuing her business there.
The Metahuman media push in China caught the business-savvy lady's attention on her 34th birthday, and she immediately set to work on the creation of another HinaHina branch, with a secondary focus in sponsoring young up-and-coming Superstars. Or really any young Metahuman that furthers her own goals. Her family ties from her mother's side helped her find a small building in Hong Kong to begin the business once again!
Power: MoonMoon
Thanks to crafty Moon powers, Ina's particular strengths are within hydrokinesis and Gravitational pull. She's grown proficient in both talents through constant use with her courier business.
Through the manipulation of her own gravitational field, Ina can fly, float, wall-crawl, and all sorts of fun other tricks. She can extend her field to items in her hands or on her person. Example: Riding a bike up the side of a skyscraper, with a large crate strapped to her back? No problem. Thanks to her hydrokinetic abilities, she can also zip across bodies of water on her bike through water manipulation, as well as move any liquids (up to the size of a large swimming pool) for self defense.
Drawbacks:
Ina's gravitational abilities are limited to her range of touch. No throwing gravity wells, bubbles, or making others fly independently of her touch. This power is also limited by sheer real estate--if it can't touch any part of Ina's body, it can't be affected by her pull. Winter seems to cast a pall on the watery side of her abilities. Once water is completely solid, it cannot be moved, though she has some sluggish success with particularly wet, slushy snow.
Ina has discovered that her powers wane when the New Moon is in the sky. She can barely clear two feet off the ground in a hover, and moving anything larger than a gallon is a serious strain.
