Name: Dana Margaret Cohen
Alias: N/A
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Affiliation: Superstar
Physical Appearance:
While Dana's younger years have escaped the woman already, the businesswoman retains a youthful and hungry sheen in her coffee brown eyes and an alluring glibness to her speech. Heavy bags and streaks of gray hair give her the accurate image of an overworked woman, busy and moving to the extent of looking silly. She can be seen wearing an assortment of dress shirts and ties, her particular favorite being an old hot pink shade, paired with brown slacks and loafers, as well as a brown coat if the weather demanded it. Her eyesight is awful, requiring thick-rimmed square glasses to see anything. Her build is lithe and gangling, being a head-turning 5'7" with curly hair and small features. Her clothes have a distinct droop to them, hanging off her skin.
Personality:
As low-class as charismatic can get, the flamboyant type that still has a mustard stain on their dress shirt, Dana Cohen is a competent workaholic that is committed to problem solving by any means necessary. Her eager drive coupled with her more opportunistic traits give the middle-aged woman a disreputable air about her, easy to look down on and even easier to brush off if you're on the right side of the city. Her most effective, and only, plan of attack has been to be a biting mosquito with a staggering know-how of the law.
Behind the veil of the business-savvy and hungry cockroach in slacks is a diligent and agreeable single mother of two challenged boys with an impatient edge and a whimsical hope for better outcomes, and who puts sobering effort into her goals because it's all she has left. Don't let the bags under her eyes fool you, however. She loves being the underdog, the alternative media, at her best when taking risks and questioning the modern day-to-day. Upsetting the pace of things. She's a woman who thinks big, yet always fails to see big, her own dishonest thoughts clashing with a loose morality that can put the woman in a bind.
All in all, Dana Cohen is an endearing slice of Hong Kong's underbelly who's quick to sink her teeth into anyone and shoot herself in the foot. Broken people come up with the best solutions, after all.
History:
Born the oldest of two daughters in a fairly unstable nuclear family, Dana Cohen had a fairly idyllic existence laid out in front of her that she very quickly got to work methodically demolishing. Her small abode in a downtown Haifa neighborhood was the only safe spot in a sprawling world of tourists, locals, and all the dirt young Dana could scrape up, and, oh, did she dig. Her house being a stone’s throw from the Israeli port city docks and only a few miles from the airport didn’t hurt when trying to find new faces to entertain and, eventually, fleece.
Dana learnt two things in Haifa, and those were how to close a deal and to know which places to run to. Punking slowly turned into a fairly-good job working the papers, writing articles about current local events and her own ventures and then panhandling them for whatever was available on the streets. The publishing facility she worked at oftentimes found its way in the middle of some sort of drug trouble, and was often checked for such substances employees would keep for dealers or pushers. When the police caught wind, Dana, ever the optimist and opportunist, was the first to offer her house.
She introduced her home, now with herself, her sister, her two parents, and her two boys (one wheelchair-bound by a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis) to a group of very serious delinquents because Dana thought she could make a profit. To say it wasn’t worth the trouble was an understatement. The drugs going in and out of that house from that point on was too much for the lady, who decided to jump ship before she ended up celebrating her boys’ birthdays in striped pajamas.
Hong Kong, China was where the Cohen family found themselves, sharing rent with kindly older man in the Gaochao District, a floor above a hair salon. Putting herself through college during the high-tension of modern day China was harrowing, to say the least, but Dana found herself the proud owner of a supply chain management degree and a small place to package and label purchased goods, mostly snack foods (the cheapest stuff Dana could find), to try and scrape up as much money as she could.
It’s been a long, sleep-deprived, money-deficient journey so far, and Dana knows it’s far from over. The next step, if she can keep her nose clean, is to snag a sponsor for Kappa Snack Foods, an almost necessity in the business climate of Hong Kong.
Power:
Teeth Regeneration - To prove that not every meta-human wins the random biological lottery, Dana Cohen is the proud enjoyer of the cushy, powerful ability to regrow any of her adult teeth. While it lacks the utility of a pair of wings or functional gills or the glitz of a manipulation power, it keeps the pearly girls looking winning, quality, and shiny. If she gets popped in the jaw, Heaven forbid, she’ll be okay in the long term.
Drawback:
On top of having little to know functionality or combat usage out of her power, Dana experiences all the common growing pains and aches of adult teeth coming in, just at an accelerated pace of the few minutes it takes for a new molar, incisor, or the like.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Dana has a mental aptitude and natural sharpness for conversations, able to seem likeable despite dirty fingers and a crooked face.
+Dana has a driven nature that will have her do things other sponsors wouldn’t do, actively putting herself in harm’s way if there’s something to gain from it.
+Dana is a highly competent businesswoman, able to find angles in situations that might be lost on others.
-Dana is her own worst enemy at times, unable to see the big picture and making rash decisions.
-Despite her fire, Dana has exactly zero percent of a chance winning a physical fight against any Rebel or Superstar. She’s just not made out to be a fighter.
-Dana has always had a dishonest edge to her thoughts, tempted more than most to operate with Hong Kong’s underbelly.
