Name: Jinpa Meng
Alias: Little Everest
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Affiliation: Rebel
Physical Appearance: Jinpa Meng is a teenage girl with a slim and athletic build, clocking in at a respectable, yet unremarkable 5'2"/158.6 cm. Her complexion is pale brown, easily passing as a native of any town she visits. Her hair follows suit, her short deep brown locks kept down, bangs framing and falling in her face, combed well but left on it's own besides that. Her eyes are a sparkling shade of pink, easily her most noticeable characteristic, considered to be a benign addition to her power. She is also missing her left front tooth (she tells a different story as to how she lost it each time she’s asked).
Jinpa Meng's fashion sense is truly where her girlish side shines, her casual wear comprising of pastel colors, skirts, oversized hats, undersized jackets, as well as studs in her ears. Complimenting her animated, flashy nature, a sweet parody of the Superstar's own flavor of public service, her Little Everest costume is lightweight as well as eye-catching. A body-hugging pale yellow tunic, an oversized sash held together with an oversized brass buckle, stretching to cover most of the girls stomach, depicting a setting sun admit rays of red and blue background. Her legs are largely bare, only displaying a cutesy pair of ruffle pumpkin shorts, a deep purple in color, and simple red sandals. She wraps her hands and feet to relieve tension during her work and does her hair up in a simple braid. To top off her look, she carries around a metal staff to use as a weapon, or to twirl around and jam her fingers.
Personality: Jinpa Meng has always been an uncompromising question posed to the world, which has unanimously answered back with "a brat and a pain". The type to hum off-key in their own little song, skipping around even if people are looking, dancing in the mirror and exhibiting a never-ending flow of energy. An experience is never truly bad unless you let it be bad, a test is never a failure unless nothing is learned. Even if that lesson is just to laugh more.
She thrives in the spotlight, a glimmering, social, unique beacon, making every chat seem like front-page news and every trip a rave. Whether it's convincing the 5'5" bank teller that she really, really did need all the bills in that safe with a flutter of her eyelashes or just running out to fetch some whole milk, Jinpa Meng enjoys the mundane and the stressful, because, if you'd believe what she says, nothing is truly mundane or stressful. To further that claim, she will be very generous with her own efforts and time to cheer up a friend, or perhaps even an acquaintance if they deserve it. Despite her fresh-faced nature, she finds herself the first to spout advice.
Focusing on the here and now, Jinpa Meng has a habit of avoiding anything that isn't immediately gratifying, such as pesky responsibilities or conflict, and will easily give an arm and a leg to walk free from binding authority. It's easy for the girl to feel like she's cornered or attacked by criticism with an overbearing and emotional nature, making it hard to address any faults of her own. Jinpa Meng, more than is healthy or secure, lives day to day. Long-term planning is just a term she doesn't believe in, right up there with "act your age" and the word coincidence.
History: Born one of several children, the middle-est child Jinpa Meng was donated to a local Buddhist monastery along with her two older brothers. From a young age, Jinpa Meng forgot her familial bonds and studied religious fulfillment, albeit begrudgingly. Her childhood was spent being reprimanded, fighting tooth and claw to train in sports and combat along with the boys, and trying her damnedest to weasel out of becoming a nun. She would hide rations, refused to study, failed to observe curfews, and took every slap on the wrist in stride, all in the name of spiteful protest.
These annoying objections slowly became more and more attention-seeking and time-consuming as Jinpa Meng matured, her childish escapades escalating into full-blown disagreement with her teachings. You get closer to bodhisattva by reveling in individual emotions and empathy, and taking part in the festiveness and sorrows of the world and it's members. To achieve nirvana is to be human, not to lose what makes you human. And with her power discovered, coupled with her wiry, mischievous personality, Jinpa Meng got to work liberating minds and making problems. With her prodding, fist fights broke out, secret relationships bloomed, she would take other monks and nuns away for days to travel to Lhasa and other cities.
Ultimately, Jinpa Meng got what she wanted as she was thrown out of the monastery, deemed a temptress as the traditional system deemed her too incorrect to salvage. To this day, she has no idea if her actions stuck with anyone from her past, nor does she care. They mattered to her, and that had to be enough. She was not a child lost in a large family, she was not a nun stripped of individuality, she was a revolutionary in the making who had places to see and people to impact. To this end, the now seventeen-year-old set off east to see what trouble she could kick up.
Power: Aura Control - Jinpa Meng is a go-getter, trend-setter kind of gal, not letting anything hold her back, so it’s a scary sort of coincidence that her meta-human ability allows her to emancipate those around her from their emotional bondage. Or, put more non-nonsense, Jinpa Meng has the unique ability to control the chemical cocktail triggers we people like to call pheromones. Through a hard-to-explain switch in her mind and body, the girl can emit a translucent sweet-smelling gas that makes people lose their inhibitions, comparable to being drunk, save the physical hindrances.
For example, if you were to like Jinpa Meng before, you’d be infatuated with her while in the midst of her gas. If you thought of something funny, you couldn’t help but laugh. If you were bummed out, you’d start crying in front of everyone.
Drawback: Given the strong-sounding power Jinpa Meng has, the actual usefulness of such an ability is disappointing. Messing with such confusing malarkey as brain juice is taxing, to say the least, and the girl finds it hard to maintain her influence for long at all.
Jinpa Meng is affected by her own power to an even stronger extent than her victim, a slurred speech, a likewise discardment of inhibitions, and an impaired vision. She comes out of her ability without any memory of what was done or said in it’s duration.
While Jinpa Meng’s power undoubtedly manipulates people’s emotions, it does nothing to one’s physical abilities, besides her own. A skilled swordsman would find no more difficulty than normal to swing his blade and connect with attacks, for an example. This power (despite your first impressions, I’d wager) has no observed combat application.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Jinpa Meng has well refined people-pleaser skills. Amusing, conversational, and a natural affinity for paying attention.
+ A boon from her upbringing, Jinpa Meng is extremely athletic, with an emphasis on speed and an extraordinary agility and flexibility. She knows some hop gar kung fu as well, but she really should have paid more attention.
- Jinpa Meng is bored easily, finds it hard to focus on anything long-term, and rarely ever reacts well to criticism or insults. She’s kind of a mess.
- Despite her agility and speed, Jinpa Meng (even with her staff) lacks the stopping power to capitalize on any of her advantageous positions.
Likes/Dislikes:
+Fried eggplant
+Cats
+Heights
+Magic tricks
+Acrobatics
