Foli Wu powerwalked briskly down the footpath of her city's main road, dodging fellow pedestrians left and right. She wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere important, however, she wasn't in a hurry to not be at her destination either. Ironically enough for someone of her abilities, going outside didn't appeal to her terribly much, but she knew better than to avoid it completely.
She didn't go out with her friends, mostly because she didn't have any. Foli had only recently moved here, but that was a flimsy excuse, she never had any friends to begin with.
The only real reason she went out today was to get some food and in the hope that she might finally find a conflict she's meant to resolve. Speaking of food, Foli was feeling hungry.
She diverted herself into a small alleyway to avoid damming the flow of foot commuters going about their day. Her lunch was packed into a generic plastic container, one of the ones that always gave Foli trouble to open.
With her box finally defeated, Foli grabbed a piece and took a bite. It was crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The taste was rather bland but it was the texture she couldn't stand, not to mention the exorbitant price. For better or for worse, it seems the rest had taken the opportunity to crawl out of the box and escape. Last time she was going to have cockroaches for lunch, that was for sure.
Not that her decision would matter much, the pet store was clearly getting suspicious of her buying so many boxes of insects. However, if she wasn't eating them, what would she eat?
It was then that she spied it from her peripheral vision. A rat lay slain in the gutter.
Foli walked over to the corpse and casually picked it up. Whatever killed it didn't eat much, and the insects hadn't gained much ground, it was rather fresh. That didn't matter much to Foli, however.
Her chomp into the rat was interrupted by a faint shriek from the crowd. The people of the city seemed to all surround her, their jaws agape in horror. Foli knew they had differing tastes, but this was just plain rude. "What's their problem?" She thought "It wasn't like they have to eat it"
