The sun began to fall on Hong Kong's benevolent Yun District. It's dying rays glinting off the towering heights of the rich man's wonderland. Stirring in the midst of these concrete giants were groups of dozens of citizens all gathered around a circular garden. The Heaven Guard, a memorial built in the center of Huaguo park, was dedicated to the accomplishment's of the nation's past, present, and future superstars. Ring upon ring of shimmering statues filled the Heaven Guard, though today as camera crews now dotted the army of steel heroes. The main attraction though was a seemingly new addition currently resting, shrouded on a stage that had been thrown together the day before.
Slowly the crowd would grow as curious passerby were drawn in by the implied promise of a spectacle form all the equipment and tech crews scurried checking over their equipment once more despite the endless tests yesterday when the set up began. Shifting from foot to foot a line of officers stood among the crowd the low roar of curious murmuring seeming to be the only thing keeping a few of them awake. After all what reason did they have to worry? Violent crime in the Yun district was almost unheard of. The crowd's focus became more directed though as several vehicles could be seen pulling up along the park's entrance. Slowly an entourage of retainers filed out, the last of which opening the door to reveal the Chief Executive of Hong Kong's Central Administrative Office, Hon Jinping. The powerful man looked toward the park and the now chattering crowd, marching forth with his followers in tow he made his way through the park and towards the stage.
Smiling all the way a crew assistant hurried over to affix a small microphone to the front of his suit. Enough time was spent securing the mic that by the time he had begun to climb the stairs of the stage the crowd had returned to their low rumble of conversation. The waning light of the day cast the man in a golden glow as he spread his arms wide and began to address the crowd, the camera crews quickly got to work as they brought their lenses to bear on center stage.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of Hong Kong, I am proud to see so many of our citizens outside and enjoying this wonderful afternoon. It's truly a blessing that we are afforded such a luxury as to walk the streets without fear. It's a blessing that my children may laugh and grow in this city without knowing of the hardships of the world. Is this not what every parent dreams of for their children? a safer world? it is because of the efforts of a brave few that we are given the chance to make this dream a reality."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not too far from all of this, upon a hill overlooking the event was a another smaller area, one filled with all manner of odd looking sculptures and statues. They ranged in size and shape yet the oddest of them all was a rather towering figure, it stood as a mass of scrap metal and debris glaring down at a small figure clad in a black hooded jumpsuit.
Chisana cocked her head to the side as she admired the figure that she hoped would soon rule the front page across Hong Kong. Swelling with pride, excitement, nervousness, the very thought of what was going to happen in the next few moments sent chills down her spine and forced her to pace back and forth. She could hear Mr. Jinping's speech begin as he talked all about how the superstars were the pride of China and began listing off all the grand things they had done. She already knew most of them, naturally.
Leaning against the railing she could identify a few of the statues from where she was. Left of the stage was Steel Tiger, the woman who managed to scale the side of a Goachao support strut and catch a falling Verti-tram that malfunctioned, fifty-three lives saved. Next to her was Sunspot, a hero who used her solar manipulation to power emergency centers during a district wide blackout, she only quit once power was restored even though it left her bedridden in the ICU for severe exhaustion. A few rows farther back from the stage was Immortal Shinning Knight. Another new addition to the gallery of legends, he earned his place by launching deep rescue operations into the ruins of Russia in an effort to assist any who still remain. Dozens of refugees claim that he would constantly defend them from all manner of metabeast no matter the size or number, one of the last true knights.
Turning back Chisana eyed her own statue, the warped monocular golem was unsightly, rigid, at times she swore she could hear the metal creek and groan, as if the abomination were alive. It had taken a lot of time hauling it all the way from Migong. Weeks dedicated to stashing the parts in passing freight elevators one backpack load at a time. She only managed to get it so close to the event because of some student art gallery nearby. It blended in perfectly with the more...obscure pieces. That wouldn't matter though, what she had in store would make all of it worth it. She spent plenty of time around the golden legends below, she even managed to get near some of the stage equipment too!
"Once upon a time."
The sun began to finally fall below Yun's artificial horizon and the time was now. Practically bouncing on her toes Chisana ran to her ruinous metal frame and with the flick of her wrist its chest blossomed open like a flower to reveal a compartment inside just big enough for her to fit.
"In a land filled with heroes."
Resting in the compartment was a black mask with a glossy featureless face, large enough to cover the girl's face. Climbing inside Chisana slowly donned the mask, a set of neon purple eyes flicked on and the girl disappeared under layer upon layer of metal as the metal behemoth's chest closed.
For a moment, all seemed still once more as the only sound in the outdoor gallery were crickets and Jinping's powerful words ringing out below.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"-Unfortunately it would seem that the man of the hour will be absent for this unveiling as he continues to protect our city. It is with great honor that I announce the Heaven Guard's newest addition, Monolith!"
Gesturing towards the hidden statute two of his retainers pulled the cloth away to reveal Monolith shining in the dying light of the sun like a beacon of hope. The crowd erupted into clapping and a few cheers as another of China's superstars was welcomed into the Heaven Guard. That is until the statue was suddenly shadowed by something. Confused the crowd looked towards Mr. Jinping who now stood staring wide-eyed at the hill behind all of them.
Quickly heads began to turn towards the hill as they were all met with the same sight. Silhouetted in the last few seconds of sunlight was a hulking golem of jagged metal and scrap; As the light finally died and the towering creature faded into the shadowy night, a single searing green light was all that could be discerned, and slowly it began making it's way down the hill muttering one phrase in a deep and chilling tone.
"A monster was born."

Sometimes, people didn't have a choice but to take action. Whether life was tough or just about everything else was tough, sometimes people had to lift themselves out of the pits they'd fallen into, to rise above the hardships that had befallen them in one way or another. Determined to make a difference in their lives whether the world around them liked it or not.
That's what Xiao thought he was going to be doing. He'd been kicked around by his own mutation his whole life, having been sabotaged and cheated out of opportunities and exams alike because he couldn't keep his eyes open. Nobody had tried to help him, and the lack of care society seemingly had for him had kept him pushed down several notches his entire life. He wanted to get back at the system that had effectively ruined his life. Nobody had bothered to help him in his hour of need, and he felt the need to pay them back.
But, highly illegal activities were currently not on the menu, even if it were he wouldn't have the concentration or energy to go through with something drastic. On and off for about two weeks - mostly due to spending at least two thirds of this time sleeping - he plotted, tried to come up with ideas to hit the system with some big, gnarly payback.
The TV eventually piped up about a new statue of one of China's loyal Superstars being unveiled at Huaguo Park, and only then did the idea hit him. It hit him like a tonne of feathers.
Superstars were an enormously impactful thing in China's society as of now, absolutely drenching the media and even the streets in their presence. As it stood, they were taking a huge amount of everyone's focus, seemingly distracting from other issues that wracked the place. And to think, they were unveiling a statue for one of these media celebrities in a couple of days time. This was it, Xiao's time to get back at the system. They liked their precious statue so much?
They wouldn't like it as much with graffiti sprawled all over it. Hah, that'd show them. Now, all he needed were a few cans of spray paint, and a plan of attack. Then, only then, would he be doing something to get back at the Superstars that society doted on so dearly.
-----------
The dead of night was nice sometimes, seeing the stars in the sky and taking in the crisp evening air was a nice thing. But, there wasn't time for that. He had a statue to vandalise.
With an exaggerated yawn, his weary eyes came to rest on the now empty Huaguo park. The shimmering display that was the Heaven Guard was seemingly off limits due to the time of night, as well as the statue unveiling coming up tomorrow. It was likely the same for every evening, though. At least this late, what with all the vandals and such about the place.
They surely weren't expecting this vandal though.
He'd come fully prepared, messenger bag lightly loaded with everything he needed. He brought along a flashlight, a sandwich he'd haphazardly cobbled together, not to mention a pair of scissors (just in case, never know when you'd need scissors.) and of course, a full-to-the-brim canister of lime green spray paint.
There were numerous colours to consider here, what would make the most impact, or look the most ugly, for example. Or perhaps even what would be the hardest to wash off? Apparently he was idly standing by the spray paint cans for about two hours, but it was time well spent, it takes time to come to the right decisions after all. One thing he'd noted over the years was how some colours reacted differently when in his vision, or rather, just how they'd make him feel.
And out of each and every one he'd ever seen, lime green was the only one that actively frustrated him to look at. It's just such an obnoxious thing to look at, regardless of what it's on. Heck, even actual real limes don't look that ugly shade of green most of the time. Really just giving limes a bad name, if anything. But, this was his thought process. He can't have been the only one to hate this eyesore of a colour, and painting 'dine on jeans' on this statue in big, bold, poorly written letters would make the difference.
He stood quietly a moment, blinking a few times before slowly making his way toward the Heaven Guard. He took note of how clean the park around him was, as expected of the Yun district at least. Honestly, it was just a really pleasant place to be. Wait, no, stop that. The target's over there, stop wondering about the park's-
Thud.
Just like that, he found himself flat on his back, bag haphazardly off to the side and his hood thankfully enough still pulled up.
Oh, the stars were forming a kaleidoscope. That's nice, something pretty to look at before going and doing something about the statue.
That's right, the statue. Painting on the statue. That's the idea, to vandalise the statue.
-----------------------------
"Hnghhh?"
Xiao's eyes snapped open, catching the sun setting as he now found himself lying on a park bench. When did he get here? Why did- oh, wait, that's right.
Stupid, no good mutation.
He took a moment, rubbing his bloodshot eyes as he lay on the bench, checking his messenger bag to see if anything was missing. Which, thankfully, everything was still there. Wait, no, the sandwich was missing. Dammit, he was going to eat that.
A moment longer passed, before he sat himself up. Relishing the approximate two hours he had before he'd struggle to stand up and keep his eyes open, his eyes were drawn to the unveiling of the statue, just over at the Heaven Guard. He'd missed his window, the impact of seeing an unveiled statue with unsavoury words splashed across it was no longer a possibility. Ah well, might as well go see what's happening.
Though he definitely missed the entire speech and most likely the unveiling as well (he wasn't quite paying attention even when he got there.) Something was most certainly happening by the time he'd lazily trudged his way on over, the crowd's eyes were on something that wasn't the statue, standing a weird distance away from said crowd, his eyes now moved to the hill. Though he didn't have the energy to react, he certainly did feel something. A pervading feeling of uneasiness, this enormous, metal behemoth stomping down the hill. One question lurked on his mind, behind his weary, half-shut eyes.
Who the hell was this giant?

The Yun District.. A fairly nice place, looks even nicer in the slowly dying light from the sun that struggling to stay up in the sky. The clouds rolled by, now and then obstructing the suns rays for a few moments before passing on again, Io was out for a bit of a victory walk seeing as today marked his final day of classes. He would be a fully licensed medical professional, working mostly in modern medicines, keeping his distance from anything too surgical.
A whole new path has opened for the young man.. Being a quote un-quote, "Superstar" always felt a bit much. He was weak and could only really defend with a high cost to his physical and mental health, that wasn't enough to stop him when he was needed though. Today being such a lovely one and it being his final day of classes which had endded a few hours ago, he knew of this little gathering to unveil a new statue from a class-mate who was super excited over it that had got his attention. Io was present at The Heaven's Guard memorial area when the crowd had started to grow, dressed in simple black dress pants, black sneakers with also a black hoodie zipped up and hood drawn. A white surgical mask covering his mouth and nose. It would be quite difficult for almost anyone to tell he was a Superstar which in his case normally works out to his favor.
He adjusts his glasses as mister Hon Jinping took the stage and started his speech, while Io understood the act of making a big speech and drawing in a crowd he never liked being surrounded by large groups.. While the Chief Executive was still talking, he had made his way through the crowd to the edge. He was down hill from what looked like a smaller area with some different statues in it, he was too far and the light was in a losing battle with time so he couldn't make out much of what was actually there. Now not surrounded by all the people he felt more at ease, coughing a few times as the speech from Hon Jinping began to wined down, the statue was finally revealed to the crowd! Which was met with thunderous cheers from the onlookers, the revelry was short-lived as an ominous shroud blanketed the area in its shadow.
As the heads turned in his direction, Io was starting to feel ill... Whole groups turning slowly in one direction didnt ever mean that there was going to be anything positive where they are looking. Turning around facing the lights last breath he could see it, some kind of hulking metal.. thing was making it was down the hill towards the crowd of people.
"Ughhhhhhhh...."
Letting out a soft grunted sigh Io rubbed his eyes, pushing his glasses farther up his head. Not wanting to out himself just yet as "Sanctuary" he held his ground, he wasn't going to just stand by and watch if anyone were to try and run past him, but making a move now might not be in the best interest of the crowd, and figured to give this situation the benefit of the doubt... Maybe this wasn't going to be bad? It could be a whole new Superstar trying to show off? Really only one way to find out, and that was to play the waiting game.

Jinpa Meng blinked, sluggish and slow, as the grey world blended back into a medley of colors and frames and, most of all, people. Lots and lots of people, Jinpa Meng, herself, being one. The count of the crowd was too much to guess at a glance, but they surrounded the young woman like a peach-tinged sea. Sound returned to her next, hearing double as a dolled-up man shouted into a microphone in front of a stage. Murmurs and shouts from around her followed suit. The poor girl's first thought was, of course, that she had no idea where she was.
Time to retrace her steps.
Looking down at her legs, Jinpa Meng deduced she was sitting in a white fold-out chair, much like those all around her. A pool of crumbs found their way in between her legs, from what seemed to be a turkey-bacon sandwich she currently clutched in her mitts. The teenager had no recollection of obtaining said sandwich and took a tentative nibble, assessing the taste. Bleh. It seemed like it had been out in the open for a while, potentially meaning Jinpa Meng literally watched a sandwich dry out in front of her. Or, perhaps, she simply took it. No one seemed angry at her for sandwich-nabbing, however. Oh well. She took another bite.
The next area to check was Jinpa Meng's own purse, packed to the brim with the usuals. As she combed through expired coupons, several different combs and hair ties, phone batteries and the like, she found a few more coins in her pouch than usual, a bottle of unopened water, a verti tram pass for a Jie Dong (who had quite the full face), and a clipped flier for a statue unveiling, a local bastion of hope named Monolith, in the world-famous (apparently) Heaven Guard in Huaguo Park. Fortunately, that name rung a bell.
Last night had Jinpa Meng down in the dumps, sleeping outside and going hungry, but the name Monolith was caught from news reporters, or billboards, or passerby citizens. Big deal, allegedly. The fact this Monolith of the masses was on cloud nine while Jinpa Meng herself had to nap on the newspapers that heralded his name, it was too much to leave un-besmirched. She was here to cause a scene and be a menace, to rid herself of the negative energy this Superstar gave her last night.
Despite her location and motive making themselves known to the teenager, Jinpa still seemed a bit confused as to how she was going to, say, knock down this statue in front of Buddha and everyone. After some contemplation, idly hearing the suited man prattle on, she simply resigned herself to the pettiest of moves currently available, lobbing a half-eaten turkey-bacon sandwich at a stand. That'd show them, yeah.
Fully ready to give any chasers the slip through the complicated Yun District, Jinpa Meng never got the chance to throw her food. The absolute hulking golem in front of her demanded everyone's attention, cutting quite the pose and talking out to the crowd in a dour tone.
Maybe it was time to get some fresher air, walk around the park for a bit. The Guard, somehow, seemed mighty cramped right now.

Ivan was prone in a blizzard, looking over a snow field with a thermal scope, looking for his target. Ivan was wearing his KGB suit. He saw movement in his scope and lightly squeezed the trigger making a very loud noise, quickly pulling Ivan out of his dream.
Ivan sat up in a sweat, quickly grabbing his rifle and waiting for the alarm tripwire outside to be set off. A few moments passed and Ivan sighed, holding his head in his hands as he got out of bed. Ivan didn't usually have dreams, and when he did something bad tended to happen. Ivan stepped out into his kitchen, over the tripwire by his bedroom door, before he heard a knock on his door. He grabbed a knife from his kitchen drawer before peeking through the keyhole.
"Who?" Ivan said to the person at his door, who was wearing some jeans, a body warmer and a red T-shirt.
"Red Dragon." said the newcomer on the other side of the door.
Ivan began to unlock his door at the mention of the code phrase. He still held onto the knife just in case the gangster tried anything.
"Target?" Ivan said to the gangster, who was leaning on one of Ivan's counters
"Hon Jinping."
"Timeline."
"Three days."
"I will consider."
"Then I will be back later." The gangster said as he marched out the door. Ivan slammed it behind him and locked it all again.
Ivan then sat down at his TV to look for Hon Jinping, to gauge how hard of a target he would be to take out.
-----------------------------------------------
Ivan did not like the Hong Kong gangsters. They were far more interested in robbing tourists than anything else. This caused them to ask difficult tasks within short timespans, since they had no idea what an assassination consisted of. If Ivan had been told Hon would be in public like this a week ago, he could have got him easily. But no. Of course not. Ivan stood at the back of the crowd listening to his speech seething with rage. Not because he couldn't kill Hon, but because he would now have to move apartments, the Hong Kong gangs did not like it when you turned down contracts.
Ivan quickly snapped out of his thoughts as everyone span around to look behind Ivan. He did so too to see a big robot, which was only a foot taller than Ivan surprisingly. He felt movement in the crowd behind him to see it parting and a woman stepping out in front of the crowd. Ivan went along with the civilians here, and considered getting involved. I mean, the government probably pays better than the Triads, but Ivan waited to see how the situation developed. Ivan was using his precognition here, getting ready to react early to any developments which may harm him.

Mimi, a lone hero in 'uniform' standing amongst the crowd as the chief continued to speak, was nearly shaking with excitement, the young girl waiting in impatient anticipation of the great revelation of Monolith’s new place among the Heaven Guard’s line of glorious heroes. What greater honor could there be then to be standing with the legendary heroes of China? Certainly, nothing she could think of. It was a lot of effort though to get anywhere close to such a point, and while she certainly was an honest hero, she hadn’t exactly gone for the big fish causing trouble, which she almost felt ashamed of herself, letting other heroes risk their lives when she could easily defeat any foe with both her skill, and what seems to be her invincibility.
“Man Xukong, I should fight some bigger bad guys.” She whispered to her friend in a heavy sigh, nearly melting forward in posture as her friend, a black-haired Chinese woman who stature wise was much taller than Mimi, remained apathetic to Mimi’s somewhat impulsive suggestion as she ate. It would only be a few seconds later when her delayed, bland response finally registered In Mimi’s ears as Xukong leaned lower to the side, claiming “No one’s stopping you.” With a quiet, blandness of cardboard.
Mimi threatened to respond, but she couldn’t find an excuse worthy of retorting, sucking up her pride and crossing her arms, and in silent revenge rudely nudging Xukong as Mimi listened further into the announcer’s announcement.
“Also, watch where you put that thing,” Xukong added quietly, motioning to the spear Mimi carelessly swung around in her face.
“Oh, sorry.”
Mimi straightened out, holding her spear vertically with her left hand as they finally received news that Monolith himself, was not actually going to show up.
WELL THAT SUCKS WHY AM I EVEN HERE BLAGH
Mimi cheeks were puffed out in disbelief, her arms crossing tighter as she furiously eyed the chief with aggressive intentions, none of which were actually valid, but she certainly felt that it wasn’t fair that they didn’t get to see the both of them together, instead of the both separate. It didn't help further on when of course Xukong started paying attention to something else other then the statue since upon it's reveal, which Mimi did find fascinating regarding the craftsmanship, was overshadowed by shadow and more notably, a sudden, green light overwhelming anyone’s ability to peer successfully into whatever the intruder was. Her arms lowered from being crossed, wide-eyed as curiosity was printed all over her face.
“What is that?” Mimi whispered under her breath, drawn to the curious anomaly and making her way through the thick crowd, approaching the stage with curiosity. Xukong wasn’t far behind her, albeit more cautious and eventually, separated from the spear-wielding fireball. Mimi meanwhile managed to reach the stage a little easier then someone without a spear, notably being avoided to ironically, avoid being accidentally stabbed, but that certainly left her easier to pick out if this was an attack.
Now, if only she had floating powers, that’d be great, since whatever the blinding green was, it was approaching the back of the stage and she could barely see over it, moving to the left side to see if she could get a better view, maybe out of the blinding green light. What did it want? She wondered. Was it part of the show? She certainly didn’t know, hoping maybe it was a surprise.
But if it was here to ruin the show, oh, she'd give it a fight. Best one gets to decide the outcome!

Staring out to the crowd of people Chisana could feel her pulse start to spike. The closer she got the more of them there seemed to be, ants from up on the hill, now dozens of faces and eyes and thoughts. It was a combination of fear and excitement, for a moment the rush of pressure she felt threatened to relieve her of her lunch. This doubt however was soon washed away as people looked up at her. No, not her, at the metal beast before them. The faces ranged from confused to full blown terror, it was so amazing! Walking around town no one ever batted an eye save for the occasional officer asking where her parents were, or some adult giving her a passing smile on the street. Here though all eyes were on her, all thoughts, here she dominated the attention.
In the mob of rising uncertainty were a few unique characters. Of the two that stood out most were a rather tall man towards the back, no not just tall, Chisana even in her armor he was only a foot shorter. Was he like her? a metahuman walking around with the potential of something amazing, like.. uh stretchy arms? maybe, running through walls? could be. Looking to the second person filled the small girl with an addictive jolt of adrenaline. Marching through the crowd was girl swathed in a flowing red outfit and carrying a what looked like a spear. Inside her armor Chisana could feel goosebumps travel down her arms, a hero. Unconsciously her own excitement caused her pace to pick up, at first increasing from a saunter to slight jog.
However as her gait increased so too did the crowd's worry as people began pushing into each other as they watched the golem pick up speed. Up on stage the once inspiring Mr. Jinping was now being escorted off stage by his retainers. If she didn't pick up the pace a bit she would lose her most important audience member, the plan could still work without him but the potency of an executive hostage would make the story so much sweeter.
In a short matter of moments the monster's speed rose, first a walk, then a jog, until finally committing it's shoulders forward into a full sprint. To the crowd it probably sounded and looked like a train thundering at them. From near the stage camera crews swiveled their lenses to bear on the approaching threat, most likely with directors or producers or whoever was in charge of them demanded they catch this.
"We'd better give them something good."
Charging towards the hero in front the golem looked like it was going to just trample her and anyone unlucky enough to be behind her. That is until metal bits from all over the creature began to shiver and lift, like quills or hair on a cat before the whole construct launched itself into the air. Traveling overhead, the hapless mob tumbled over each other in panic before most ended up in a writhing mass of bodies. Her flight would be a short one though as she quickly approached the stage and a very shocked executive.
BOOOM
The ground tremored as the stage beneath the behemoth exploded from the landing sending splintered bits of wood and scaffolding toppling over. Rising slowly the golem now turned back to the crowd clutching it's prize by the throat. Wide-eyed and currnetly wasting his efforts by pounding away at the oversized steel mitt gripping his windpipe. The cameras were quick to follow the action, looking at the shaking camera workers gave the child a wide grin given she had set her tv to record the broadcast. She could see the technician's faces twist in confusion as they looked from their screens to the figure standing before them.
While they were witness to every detail the camera on the other hand was not. From it's perspective a dark pixelated mass had Mr. Jinping at it's mercy, the only defining feature being the single luminescent eye that now swept over the crowd.
"It is my understanding that you have all gathered here for an unveiling of something grand."
People began to scream as they recovered their senses. Quick to their feet people began to scatter like roaches in every direction, panic and escape replacing their curiosity. While she didn't expect people to turn and run quite yet, it wasn't a problem, in fact, it was an opportunity. Raising a hand, massive scrap iron fingers gripped the air and the of the heaven guard was filled with the sound of screeching metal. All around the statue guardians began to writhe and twist, their once shining metal figures almost screaming out in pain as they warped under the monster's will. Bending and tearing the once proud statues reached out to one another to form a ring that now penned in any of the citizens who thought escape an option.
Quickly the shaken crowd members found themselves standing before this villain once more, now very aware of it's purpose here. Slowly the metallic voice came forth once more from the golem.
"Tell me, where is the fearlessness that your leader spoke of? Where is the valor and courage that the Heaven Guard was built in worship of? There are no heroes left, only superstars posing and pretending, like children."
Lifting Jinping into the air his legs began to kick out in desperation as he now dangled helpless in front of his people.
"That is why I have come."
The villain lifted a hand towards the shinning monument to Monolith.
"I seek a hero to challenge me, and if none are up to the task."
Fingers closed once more as Monolith's statue followed the example of it's brethren and filled the air with the sound of shrieking metal as it too contorted and fell prey to the invisible will of the figure before it.
"Then I will forge one from the fires of this city, for I am Magnemesis."

From what was apparent, the situation involving this metal behemoth and a crowd of scared people had escalated from about a thirty-seven to a three-hundred in a matter of seconds. The crowd was in a panic, people had been caged in by the very statues that had made up the Heaven’s Guard. The executive was being held hostage, and it almost seemed as though nobody was going to stand up to this horrifying monstrosity. But, one thing, and one thing only lingered on Xiao’s mind.
His parents were going to kill him if he got home late, and with everyone here now being trapped by the ruined statues of the Heaven's Guard, he needed to act fast. Lingering near the back of the crowd still, he pulled out his phone, sending off a rapid message to his father.
‘Gonna be a while longer at Pao’s, be home in a few hours.’ The message roughly read, when translated out of sleepy-speak at least. Though, it was taking a while to send the message. What, was there some kind of magnetic interference in the air? Whatever, this place must just suck with reception.
With his phone no longer demanding all of his attention, he glanced around, briefly wondering why everyone was scared and panicking.
Ah, that’s right, the spotlight golem demanding a challenge from the Superstars, calling them all posers and going on a villainous tirade. Wait, since when was this thing, this ‘Magnemesis’ person, covered in splashes of pink? He looked from side to side, seeing if anyone else was in fact seeing this weirdness.
He soon discovered that everyone he looked at was also covered in splashes of pink, so was the grass, and the twisted-metal-statue-ring. Ah, he knew what this was.
Stupid, no good mutation.
His eyes lazily wandered to the frighteningly villainous Magnemesis once more, then to the now loudly crumpling statue of Monolith, held airborne by the villain’s mere presence as it was reduced to a heap of scrap, reduced to nothing more than the equivalent of a crushed tin can. Speaking of cans, that was the statue Xiao was planning on defacing with a low-quality insult.
Though, when he thought more on it, what Magnemesis was doing here made a much, much heavier impact than anything he’d considered doing with that abominable can of lime-green paint. A job that could have been undone in less than an hour, was instead being replaced with countless amounts of property damage that would cost immense amounts to fix.
Screw graffiti, this was making a much bigger impact. This was a challenge, a challenge to see if anyone was strong enough to respond. Or, well, if anyone was here to respond to begin with. And though he was actually frightened for Mr. Jinping’s life, being hoisted around by the neck by this hulking monstrosity, this was going to leave a mark. A bigger mark than Xiao could ever hope to make on his own. He continued to watch the scene unfold from his position near the back, having barely noticed the other more unusual people around the place. Well, aside from that gigantic man hulking about in the crowd, as well as one girl whose hair he suspected was pink from the very start. Which it was.
With a combination of a dull fear and excitement swirling lazily in his mind, he rubbed his bloodshot eyes, yawning loudly as his eyes were drawn to Magnemesis.
What a day out this was turning out to be. Apparently this was just the day where the Heaven's Guard met its maker, the vain display of these Superstars being torn to pieces by this ferocious villain.

"What IS that thing..."
"Its not gonna attack us right? Here of all places?!"
"Mommy im scared!"
"Im not waiting to find out whats going to happen.."
The hushed whispers and panic of the surrounding crowd rushed Io, as badly as he wanted this to just be some mild event, he knew that was no longer going to be an option. Going into a quick coughing fit, he could feel something wet on his lips, and that familure iron taste. "Wonderful..." Mumbled Io as he removed his medical mask, a dark red staine growing around its center. Not having the time to discard his mask properly he crumples it and stuffs it into his pocket. One hand covering his mouth as he braced himself, the metal monster was picking up speed, more speed then he thought something with that much mass could have so quickly. Right as the hulking golem launched over head, Io moved into action.
"Stay near me!"
He called out loudly as he turned following the attacker with his eyes, an orange energy barrier formed around Io surrounding him and a small portion of the crowd, metal and wood clamoring down and bouncing off of his barrier with ease. The people inside the barrier looked around, unsure of what just happened. Their eyes were drawn to Io standing in the center of the barrier. As swiftly as it appeared, the barrier fades away to nothing, with Io not being with them any longer si ce he had started to move twords the stage. Daftly he moved through the panicked crowd, which grew even more chaotic from the massive impact that the metal golem delivered to the stage, shattering it with ease. Thinking quickly, Io raises half of another barrier before him stopping as much of the shrapnel as he could. Once again as quickly as he raised it, it was already fading away. Once close enough to what remains of the stage, Io realized he was too slow. The beast already had its fingers wrapped around Mr. Jinpings throat.
Grinding his teeth for a moment before the behemoth began to speak.. That singular green eye scanned the crowd before it, including over Io himself. Knowing he only had one shot at this, he has to pick the correct moment to spring his surprise.
"Monologues... Why do they always monologue.."
He mumbled to himself while covering his mouth. Io wasn't doing so hot, he figired today would be simple or maybe he just hoped... Either way he was feeling weak, he had gotten a good look around and spotted a few people that clearly didn't seem as scared as everyone else. His plan would revolve heavily around the hope that at least one of them were going to have some kind of follow up.
"Then I will forge one from the fires of this city, for I am Magnemesis."
NOW!
Being close enough, another orange hued barrier formed around Jinping just big enough to be a personal shield, aswell as to trap the hand of Magnemesis inside. The metal was stronger then Io had hopped as the metal hand withstood the energy from his barrier, but for how long? Holding the barrier up still he was a bit lost for what to do next.
"Why do your types always monologue? I just *cough* wanna know."
Io was completely defenseless, his energy was all being focused into the barrier around Jinping and trying to cut through the golems hand... Might as well see if he can keep them talking while people got away.

Ivan was completely prepared to fight the large robot, his face was one of concern, with a furrowed brow, fists up and legs bent to roll out the way in preparation for a ram.
Until Ivan got his vision.
While the rest of the crowd was panicking around him, Ivan loosened up and crossed his arms, and span around to where he saw the robot would land. Ivan was perfectly calm about the situation, until the mechanical mess grabbed his target by the neck, immediately after which, Ivan furrowed his brows, and moved his arms to his sides, curious to see where this would go, if that robot was planning on showing Ivan up to the Triads he would have some words to say.
Until the robot, now named Magnemesis, began monologuing.
Ivan was very intrigued by what this robot was offering, maybe if it was a bit more private he would take up his offer, Ivan cant go and show off his metahuman status.
A smirk was put on Ivan's face when he saw the shield appear around Hon, clearly there is a Superstar in the crowd who felt like being sneaky. Ivan had respect for that and frankly, he hoped Sanctuary succeeds, for all this chaos means he could probably kill Hon and get out undetected. Ready to see what happens, Ivan pushes his sunglasses further up his nose, and tries to move through the crowd of spectators to the edges, ready to detach and flank around to an ignored Hon, ripe to be taken out. However, the entire time he was moving through the crowd he had his eyes and ears on Magnemesis and the Superstar in the front of the crowd who was now questioning the machine, trying to distract it from the move he was making.
Once in position at the edge of the crowd, he began examining the monster, looking for weak points, blind spots in its vision, if its joints were vulnerable, who knows. Maybe the light is how it sees? Only one bullet necessary and blam, its blind. If not, Ivan could disable its arms with some bullets in the right places, double that if the human inside isn't well protected, this goliath is made of cars, which don't have the thickest metal to them, maybe a bullet could penetrate and injure whoever is inside. Assuming there is a human in there, it could just be some sort of battle robot gone rogue, although that's unlikely considering the flair the robot is going for by making a speech, and the jump at the last moment thing, and the fact it isn't detecting the shield instantly, which shows its probably not part of its body, either that or it doesn't feel pain at all, which would be bad. All in all, Ivan concluded that if he was forced to fight, all he had to do was stay at range and he should be able to knock the machine out, issue with that being it seemed surprisingly mobile for an 8 foot metal beast. Maybe the other Superstars here could serve as fodder and just get in the way so Ivan can slip away. I mean, Magnemesis has no reason to pay attention to Ivan right? I mean, there is absolutely nothing special about the Russian, he is VERY ordinary.

The roaring from the monster’s footsteps stampeding across the way was loud and violent to Mimi’s ears and anyone who wasn’t already deaf by the train barreling down on the crowd, finally seeing the violent monster as it launched into the air like a plane taking off from a runway, her own eyes widening as she realized whoever this was, were just about to deliver the payload, in the form of wood and scaffolding being blown from the impact of such a large mechanical beast meeting the stage. After what would seem to be milliseconds, Mimi had ducked and slammed her eyes shut to avoid whatever came her way or possibly being blinded in the aftermath, splintering wood and other materials sent flying from the epicenter of the destruction, and noise.
She was lucky the edges hadn’t collapsed, and that she had ducked in time protecting her head, otherwise, she would’ve been buried in rubble or injured, worst case scenario- then again, maybe not. Mimi finally rose from her position to inspect the damage around of her as she heard the last of the debris around her fall, eyes opening while she saw the crowd stumbling and scrambling to escape the monster who had coincidently trapped them soon after and taken the guest speaker hostage by the neck. Crap. It was a few seconds later, but once Mimi had caught on to the current situation, she listened as the thunderous, metal monster was taunting any Superstar that was in the crowd, calling them posers and pretenders…
As if.
Mimi stood up, dusting the splinters and general debris covering the lower part of her uniform off as she reached back down to pick up her imperial red spear with a golden blade, the scarf attached to the pommel flowing like a flag in the wind as she jumped on stage, a comrade already having made their move by trying to peel the hostage from it’s solid, metallic grasp with the use of what looked to be a forcefield. Considering what most people would consider a threat made of scrap-heap to be, this wouldn’t be a problem, but when it came to it suddenly coming alive and taking people by the throat, it was then when there were problems to be had, specifically when all it wanted, was a challenger. Mimi’s attitude changed from the casual to the serious. Normally with villains she’d taunt them, and cause them to succumb to their anger at her offenses n’ taunts and then easily pick them off, but how was she supposed to taunt something so large, and threatening?
Maybe she wasn’t supposed to in this case?
Mimi approached the monster when she finally got on stage, her spear held tightly in her right hand near the blade as she stared at what would be its eye, then coming to a stop at the edge of it’s destruction while her comrade tried to free the man who struggled, inspired that the best action to take at the moment, was to provide it with what it asked for, and with it, the distraction to buy her comrade time to free Jinping and hopefully, reason enough to make it leave before it hurt anyone else, because frankly, the monster had enough armor that it was the equivalent of a Road Roller when it came to possibly flatten everyone in the small area they were in now.
Which was entirely its fault, by the way, just saying.
She spoke quickly, pointing her spear at the behemoth while her left hand was in that of a fist close to her side, her eyes narrowed and eyes blazing with cold blue fury as she stared at it, somewhat uneasy with its menacing structure and whatnot. “Hey, listen to yourself, are you blind? Everyday heroes of all trades n’ kinds litter Hong Kong with safety and security, and while we are no longer called heroes, superstar is just another name for both the fearlessness, valor, and courageousness you claim we no longer have, even when it is clearly presented to you now and before, to which I say, the hell do you think you are accusing us and demanding a challenge where if I accept it, would turn you back into the scrap-heap you truly are?”
Mimi’s confidence began to build with her own words, the cold fury of her expression turning to that of a smirk as she then basically threw diplomacy out the window.
“'Cause you know what, fine, I ACCEPT. Allow these people to go and then FITE ME, SCRAPPY!” She yelled at the beast, taking a battle stance as her left hand quickly balanced her spear out on her right side while she mentally prepared to move if it chose to attack. There was a likely chance this might not end well, but she basically told her nerves to shut up and deal with it, after all...
What could this thing even do to someone like her? She was Redstar, and stars like her never die.

The plan had worked perfectly, with the crowd held hostage and Jinping endangered superstars seemed to materialize from thin air. The pair quickly made themselves known as a shield of some sort formed around the captive executive and was currently searing the metallic forearm of Magnemesis. Whilst this was a suprising development Chisana's enthusiasm was quickly dashed as she turned Magnemesis to face the superstar responsible.
Where she expected the proud form of a hero stepping forth from the crowd, she was instead met with a sickly looking man. Scrawny as a twig and couldn't even get out his response without coughing. Needless to say, Chisana was more than disappointed, in fact, the idea that this is what passed as a hero nowadays disgusted her. Giving the shield an experimental bash, Magnemesis balled up its remaining hand into a fist and crashed it into the barrier. Still it stood, defiant against the behemoth's wishes, however, Mr. Jinping seemed less confident in the shield as his fear filled shriek could be heard over the impact of scrap against energy. Sickened as she was by the pathetic appearance of the meta, the strength of his ability was certainly noteworthy.
Seeing that further attempts to free herself would only dissipate the grand visage that Magnemesis had commanded, she instead turned her attenion to the crimson hero who now shared the stage. While the girl before her demonstrated an impressive amount of determination, she had made a crucial mistake. The superstar below had chosen to act, whereas this girl chose to argue. Chisana gritted her teeth from inside her metal shell. Quickly, she reached a hand to her mask, pressing a small button on its side shutting down the intercom function between her mask and Magnemesis, leaving the girl in the privacy of the metal interior.
Chisana balled up her fists in frustration at the two superstars. Even from within the layers of scrap she could hear the crowd begin to cheer as the pair had begun to undo the terror she had so proudly wrought. No doubt the appearance of the superstars would give the people the foolish hope that they would defeat Magnemesis.
"This is so stupid! I came here for heroes! Where is Monolith! Anyone that's not this!"
Dragging her hand along the surface of her mask Chisana let out a long sign that quickly turned into a aggravated groan.
"I'm supposed to find my rival here, not play with wannabes."
Realization dawned on her in that moment. The feeling of her anger melting away left the girl practically giggling as she reactivated the intercom system and brought Magnemesis out of it's trance. Fixing it's monocular gaze on the cocky superstar. Rolling its massive shoulders Magnemesis took a step towards the girl, the floor beneath the giant groaning and snapping under the weight of the villain. If she beat the two of them, a bigger hero would have to show up, wouldn't they?
"Very well, girl."
With that Magnemesis heaved it's body to the side. The rapid movement caused the crowd to gasp as they were met with a viscous display Magnemesis tore its arm in half at the elbow. Now free from the protective shield, Magnemesis raised it's stump of an arm towards the ruined statue of Monolith. The tortured monument was forced into agony once more as it's twisted limbs shot forth seeking to bind the mouthy superstar. In the same moment, Magnemesis swept it's remaining hand towards the superstar in the crowd. Bits of metal along the massive arm of the golem began to rattle and shake violently before firing off in the direction of the sickly meta.
"I can assure you, the only ones being reduced to a heap, will be the two of you."

Whoah, it looks like the Superstars were here this entire time. A sickly looking guy had lunged into the fray, doing some flashy forcefield moves to combat the metallic behemoth. Not to mention a confident looking girl with a spear with a childlike manner of speech was now demanding that Magnemesis 'fite her'. Bit of a weird way to pick a fight with someone, but half of these Superstars were weird goofballs. The shield dude was making a genuine effort by the looks of things, Xiao almost found himself rooting for his success.
But, nah, Magnemesis was way cooler. Did you see how they just annihilated those statues with a wave of their hands? Now that's showing the government what for. Though, speaking of showing someone what for, something caught Xiao's eye amongst the crowd around him. The pink-eyed girl he noticed before was holding something very familiar. Something he'd lost only moments ago.
That little sneak had his sandwich.
There wasn't a person on this earth that made a sandwich as messily as that, he knew from the first glance that it was his 'craftsmanship.' The factor of the meat all dangling out of one side, the asymmetrical nature of the bread, even the layer of blue and green swirling around it gave it all away.
Except for that last part. No good, stupid mutation.
Though, just as he was about to approach them to subtly ask them where they found his poorly assembled lunch, the burly russian man he'd caught a glimpse of earlier had stepped right into view, having seemingly moved themselves to Xiao's spot near the twisted wall of statues. He sat there for a moment, wondering what this dude's story was. Why were they so tall, was this their mutation? Or did they just eat a whole lot of eggs? He was then caught off guard as his phone buzzed again, lazily pulling it out of his pocket and unlocking it after several attempts.
Looks like that message to his dad finally went through, which brought a sigh of relief out of his mouth. Good, he wasn't getting a stern talking to when he showed up late this evening.
'Alright, son. Take care.' The message read. Now, he could get back to what he was doing before.
Which was what? He'd been so caught up in the thought of his dad telling him not to go do anything reckless, that he'd almost lost sight of the situation. Maybe he could do something to help Magnemesis? As unlikely as it was, just moseying on over to one of those Superstars and giving them a slap on the back of the head would leave them literally seeing colours. Or maybe not, they actually did this whole fighting thing as a job, he'd probably just get hurt.
Then he remembered the enormous man from earlier having parked himself nearby.
Xiao turned to look at him, briefly unaware of the chaos around him for a moment. Finding himself weirdly curious about this large man, why he was wearing sunglasses at this time of day. Sunglasses in the evening were for kidnappers and bouncers.
Wait, what time was it? Must have been late by now, the sun set a while ago. Oh, wait, he's staring.
With an exasperated yawn, Xiao turned his attention away from the enormous bear of a man, turning his attention back to the battle at hand. The Superstars versus Magnemesis. An epic battle, with the two most unimpressive superstars he's seen thus far. Well, shield dude looked pretty spectacular, pulling up a fancy shield like that despite looking so sick. The one with the spear had red hair? That was something.
Maybe he'd jump in if more people did, he did come here to stir up something resembling trouble, after all. He'd have to find that darn sandwich nabber as well.

Io was holding his ground with steady feet and currently trying to wrap his mind around the situation as it happens, the half roar of the crowd as they start to realize that Superstars were here and actively trying to help, while he didn't terribly mind being cheered on he would rather the crowd dispersed and cleared out the area. He didn't have the time to listen to the other young Heroes bravado, he had to focus on the force field around his target, it wasn't a very large shield so the strain on his body isnt too much to deal with. Having cought alittle of what the other Superstar said twords the end he couldn't help but sigh,
"Monologuing... why always monologuing.." He mumbled to himself, he was brought back down to the situation at hand when Magnemesis suddenly ripped away from the barrier. The sudden jerk pulled at his mind, he dispersed the barrier once the metal husk had lost interest in Jinping and was not focused on the two Superstars.. Good.
Wait no.. Not good.
Metal. Lots of sharp metal and scrap were flying in a scattered pattern in his direction, the crowd that was just cheering on the two Heroes had came to a low hush, most of the crowd getting the point a bit too late as metal was flying in their direction aswell. Knowing he couldn't make a barrier large enough for both himself and the section of the fleeing crowd, he took off running. Dodging most of the flying chunks of metal and scrap, most not all because he did get clipped, a few sharp pieces of scrap gave him a few good slashes.
He placed a barrier to give the crowd as much of a chance as he could, his shield held up well against the onslaught of metal debris. His body was getting weaker and weaker, having to rely on his barrier so much in one day. Standing behind the barrier and looking through it he locked his eyes onto the metal husk doing battle with some spearweilding star. Close combat has never been one of his strong suits so he was going to take whatever time he was given to take a breather... What was the real meaning behind this attack, this couldn't be just mindless chaos could it? From how the metal behemoth spoke, whatever it was had some form of intelligence and didn't seem one to attack just for the sake of attacking.

As Jinpa Meng witnessed the chaotic scene unfurl around her, a menacing metal mammoth of a brute descending upon the Heaven Guard ceremony as people were blocked in whatever trap it had sprung, she felt a twinge of energy shoot down her back. The kind of electricity you feel when you beg your little brother to not call mom as his bruised knee is tangled in his bike spokes, or the kind you feel the first time you sneak out to a high school party and there's totally gonna be booze there. Jinpa Meng felt a perverse sense of exhilaration. As the situation worsened, the Chief Executive hoisted up in the air and the public corralled into their pen, heroes made themselves known. The Superstars of today to help tame the statues of their superiors, Jinpa Meng fished out her trusty staff as she debated what to do. No matter what, she’d want to try and help the winning side, the 8 to 1 of a plucky cancer patient and a yappy redheaded spear-user against a literal metal golem didn’t seem likely to pan out in the public’s favor. So the shadowy new arrival better be the gracious type. As Jinpa Meng scanned the scene around her, she spied a few opportunities, the main one being to try out her power on one of the armed guards currently training their guns on Magnemesis, holding their shots due to the valuable target still in it’s clutch. Anger, fear, whatever it is they were feeling, one little nudge from Little Everest and they’d be spraying in that monster’s general direction. The only problem was how open it left Jinpa Meng herself, using her power in an open combat zone like that was even too reckless for her. So, she decided to take the safer option and cause trouble with her bearings about her. Her speed, the chaotic scene about her, and her trusty staff were all Jinpa Meng needed to make a fool out of either of these so-called Superstars, and she singled out her target. A slim dude in some black duds had made himself known as a Super fairly early on, shielding the crowd around him and the Chief Executive with some sort of barrier. Unlucky for him, he wasn’t keeping his eyes peeled. Her swing had some good momentum to it, as this wasn’t nearly the first time Jinpa Meng had committed such an act to a target, both deserving and undeserving. Poor Io would be fighting a giant golem one moment, and then feel the titillating sensation of a metal bar against his groin the next, the pink-eyed witch of a girl grinning ear to ear as she fully dedicated to doing some bad.
